All School Board meetings and committee meetings are open to the public, and citizens are cordially invited to attend. The Winchester Public School Board generally meets twice each month, on the second and fourth Mondays, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss educational concerns and establish school policies. Work sessions are generally conducted at the Central Administrative Office, 12 N. Washington Street. Regular Board meetings are generally conducted at John Kerr Elementary School, 536 Jefferson Street. Please check the meeting agenda to confirm meeting location.
The Agenda includes issues regarding curriculum, personnel, financial responsibilities, technology, facilities and operations, public comment, and other concerns. Also included is a closed session which is used for the discussion of matters exempt from public discussion as specified under the Code of Virginia.
Citizens who wish to offer their comments at a school board meeting are encouraged to do so. They are asked to call or write the Superintendent's office to request that an item be included on the meeting agenda. A sign-in sheet is also provided at each meeting for those wishing to address the school board.
