Working to Provide the World's Best Education
Washington County Public Schools are using the Internet to enhance governance and provide for better communication with the public. The new Board Docs initiative is replacing the old method of compiling, printing, binding and distributing a limited number of paper meeting documents with electronic document distribution. By making meeting agendas and supporting documents available on the Internet, Washington County Public Schools will be able to distribute documents associated with a meeting more quickly, efficiently, and in a timely manner.

A schedule of the 2013 meetings appears below. Meetings are held in the School Board Office boardroom, 812 Thompson Drive, Abingdon, Va., unless otherwise indicated or announced. Citizens are encouraged to attend so that they can become better acquainted with the operation and programs of the school system.

The agenda is prepared in advance of each meeting. Anyone wishing to speak before the Board should inform the Superintendent’s Office in writing seven days prior to the board meeting.

Public comment is accepted at each meeting to allow persons not on the agenda an opportunity to address the Board. Those addressing the Board are requested to sign the form at the podium prior to the opening of the meeting. Speakers are allotted three minutes to address the Board, and no Board action is taken.

The Washington County School Board will hold the following School Board Meetings for 2013. The meetings will be held at the School Board Office, 812 Thompson Drive, Abingdon, Virginia, unless otherwise announced, and they are open to the public.
