The Hampton City School Board is charged by the statutes of Virginia and the regulations of the Virginia Board of Education to provide and operate the public schools of Hampton, Virginia. It is the function of the Board to set general school policy and, within the framework of Virginia Board of Education regulations, to establish guidelines that will ensure the proper administration of the city school program.
Members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend public meetings of the School Board to observe its deliberations. The Board holds two meetings a month. The first is a regular business meeting held at 6:30 p.m. in the Forum of Jones Magnet Middle School, 1819 Nickerson Blvd. This meeting is televised live on Cox Cable Channel WHCS 46 or FIOS Channel 20 and rebroadcast on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays immediately following the meeting. This meeting is also videostreamed on the Hampton City Schools website (www.sbo.hampton.k12.va.us). The second meeting of the month is a Work Session and is held at 6:30 p.m. at the School Administrative Office at the Ruppert Sargent Building, One Franklin Street.

The Hampton School Board will hold a Budget Retreat on Monday, March 18 at 5:00 pm in the 5th Floor Conference Room at the Ruppert Sargent Building. More information and the agenda will be posted as it becomes available.
