Hampton City Schools
The Hampton City School Board is charged by the statutes of Virginia and the regulations of the Virginia Board of Education to provide and operate the public schools of Hampton, Virginia. It is the function of the Board to set general school policy and, within the framework of Virginia Board of Education regulations, to establish guidelines that will ensure the proper administration of the city school program.
Members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend public meetings of the School Board to observe its deliberations. The Board holds two meetings a month. The first is a regular business meeting held at 7:30 p.m. in the Forum of Jones Magnet Middle School, 1819 Nickerson Blvd. This meeting is televised live on Cable Channel WHCS 46 and rebroadcast on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays immediately following the meeting. This meeting is also videostreamed on the Hampton City Schools website (www.sbo.hampton.k12.va.us). The second meeting of the month is a Work Session and is held at 7:30 p.m. at the School Administrative Office at the Ruppert Sargent Building, One Franklin Street.
