NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING On Wednesdays, March 11 and 18, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, the Hampton City School Board will conduct a public hearing on the Division’s Proposed FY 15-16 School Operating Budget to receive comments from the public. All meetings will be held at Jones Magnet Middle School, 1819 Nickerson Boulevard, Hampton, VA. A copy of this proposed budget will be on file after March 11 and may be viewed at the School Administrative Center, One Franklin Street, Hampton, VA during regular business hours or online at www.hampton.k12.va.us.
The Hampton City School Board is charged by the statutes of Virginia and the regulations of the Virginia Board of Education to provide and operate the public schools of Hampton, Virginia. It is the function of the Board to set general school policy and, within the framework of Virginia Board of Education regulations, to establish guidelines that will ensure the proper administration of the city school program.
Members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend public meetings of the School Board to observe its deliberations. The Board holds two meetings a month. The first is a regular business meeting held at 6:30 p.m. in the Forum of Jones Magnet Middle School, 1819 Nickerson Blvd. This meeting is televised live on Cox Cable Channel WHCS 46 or FIOS Channel 20 and rebroadcast on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays immediately following the meeting. This meeting is also videostreamed on the Hampton City Schools website (www.hampton.k12.va.us). The second meeting of the month is a Work Session and is held at 6:30 p.m. at the School Administrative Office at the Ruppert Sargent Building, One Franklin Street.
