SUBJECT: Student Achievement Goal 1- Academics - All students will obtain, understand, analyze, communicate and apply knowledge and skills to achieve academic success in school and in life.

BACKGROUND:

On December 7, 2006, the School Board approved the Student Achievement Goal 1 reasonable interpretation and indicators. This presentation will provide an overview on work in progress and performance measures in place to ensure successful attainment of the School Board goals.

KEY POINTS:

The presentation will describe the overview and work being done to prepare students for success in the 21st century. These strategic actions based on current educational research will be implemented to assure that all students reach their full academic potential and relate that potential to their post-secondary educational and career goals.

1. Does the Board need any clarification on the information in the report?
2. Does the report meet the Board’s need to determine progress toward meeting the Student Achievement Goal 1?

That the School Board accept the report as a reasonable interpretation of the Board’s goals, including indicators to measure attainment of the goal, the timeline, and the aspirational expectation of Student Achievement Goal 1 - Overview.
