SUBJECT: Student Achievement Goal 1.3. Explore, Understand, and Value the Fine and Practical Arts

BACKGROUND:

On December 7, 2006, the School Board approved Student Achievement Goal 1.3 reasonable interpretation and indicators. On October 25, 2007, the first monitoring report was presented to the School Board, and was approved on November 8, 2007. This second monitoring report will provide an update on progress to date, and future plans related to the performance measures in place to ensure successful attainment of the goal.

KEY POINTS:

The presentation will describe the anchors for the grade six assessments in art and music, and the implementation of the program from pilot to full implementation. In addition, an update on performance expectations for increasing the number of students earning industry credentials will be presented.

RECOMMENDATION:

That the School Board accept the monitoring report on the current progress toward attaining Student Achievement Goal 1.3. Explore, Understand, and Value the Fine and Practical Arts.
