Welcome to Bristol Tennessee City Schools

The Bristol Tennessee Board of Education is composed of five members, who are residents of the city and are elected by citizens at the general election in November to serve a four-year term. Mr. Buskell (District #1, Holston View), Ms Ellis (District #5, Fairmount), and Mr. Pyle (District #3, Avoca & Haynesfield) represent specific districts within the city, and Ms. Brown and Mr. Welch, who were elected at-large, represent the entire city.


The Board of Education is responsible for establishing goals and adopting policies for the effective operation of the school system. The board appoints a director of schools to oversee the operation of the school system in accordance with the educational goals and policies it establishes.

Board of Education Members Are: Nelson Pyle, Chair; Mary Brown, Vice-Chair; Kelly Buskell, Secretary, Gwen Ellis, and David Welch.
