The fourth or fifth week of January (Jan. 25-31) is traditionally designated School Board Member Recognition Week in Missouri. The statewide goal of this event is to build awareness and understanding of the important functions an elected board of education plays in a representative democracy. All Missouri citizens have been asked to recognize the contributions of school board members and focus attention on the vital role these public officials perform in the education of Missouri’s children.

Since the R-7 School District Board of Education meeting is Jan. 22, we will formally recognize R-7 Board members a week before School Board Member Recognition Week. Several Hazel Grove Elementary AIM/ASPIRE students will be at the meeting to make a special presentation to the Board of Education.
