Agenda Item Content
Background Information
Annually, Facilities Services evaluates and prioritizes carpet and floor tile for replacement. In addition, principals through the Non-Allocated request procedure make their needs known. The Capital Project Team reviews and recommends to the BOE the improvements for approval. This summer's work is being funded by the 2008 Bond Initiative. The schools affected are Greenwood, Hazel Grove, Highland Park, Mason, Meadow Lane, Pleasant Lea Elementary, Bernard Campbell and Summit Lakes Middle Schools. This project was publicly advertised, per State Statute, and two contractors submitted bids. One of those contractors withdrew their bid because of an estimating error. Construction Systems and Flooring Inc. provided the lowest responsible base bid. This firm has a long history of successful project completion with the District.
Administrative Recommendation
The Administration recommends that the Board of Education approve award of the 2008 Flooring Program to Construction Systems and Flooring, Inc., for the amount of $232,020.
SOT Member: Dr. Tom Kurucz
