RECOMMENDATION: Board approval of 19 requests to conduct pilot courses, two requests to adopt successful pilot courses as site-specific courses, four requests to continue a pilot course for one additional year of study, one request to terminate a pilot course, and 12 requests to change the Uniform Course (UC) File. The requests included herein met several requirements to receive Interdivisional Curriculum Committee (ICC) approval. These criteria included: 1. Clear correlation to state academic standards; 2. An evaluation plan to judge the efficacy of the pilot course; 3. Applicable fulfillment of UC A-G requirements, and; 4. Accordance with state Education Code provisions.

The Interdivisional Curriculum Committee has the responsibility to assess and recommend requests for curriculum changes to the Board of Education. These requests may include: Approval to conduct school-initiated pilot courses; continue pilot courses for an additional year; adopt pilot courses as regular district courses, either for a specific site(s) or district-wide; delete pilot courses; and changes to the Uniform Course File (course title changes, course attribute changes, course deletions, etc.). All costs associated with the pilot/site-adopted courses proposed will be paid by the site and/or corresponding department funding/resources. School master schedules will be developed based on whether or not sites are permitted to offer the courses listed below, and the pending ConnectEd “Pathways” grant will be affected if requests from College, Career and Technical Education courses are not approved.
