Pursuant to Education Code sections 45114, 45115, 45117, 45298 and 45308, the District is authorized to eliminate and reduce classified positions due to a lack of work or a lack of funds. The District is reducing or eliminating 16.75 full time equivalents (FTEs) classified positions in 10 classifications for the 2009-2010 school year.

Resolution No. 08-09-17 is necessary due to declining enrollment and the loss of state funding for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 fiscal years. The District and SEIU Local 1021 have met and discussed the reduction of 16.75 FTE classified positions in the District for the 2009-2010 school year. Permanent employees have bumping rights in the same job classification or lower job classifications they once held under the collective bargaining agreement, which will cause additional personnel shifts.
